Rose Nolan works across painting, installation, sculpture, photography, prints and book production. Her practice regularly oscillates between the discrete and the monumental and is informed by a strong interest in architecture, interior and graphic design—combining formal concerns with the legacies of modernism. Nolan’s practice is known for its investigation of the formal and linguistic qualities of words, directly using language to transform the architectural space they inhabit. By making language concrete in this way meaning is allowed to be approached differently.

With a text by Ingrid Perez and photography by Christian Capurro. Designed by Rose Nolan and Warren Taylor. Edition of 100 hand-numbered and initialed by the artist.

Vogliamo Tutto
Nanni Balestrini
Published by Telephone Publishing, Melbourne, 2014, 198 pages, 13.8 × 20.5 cm, English
Price: €16 (Out of stock)

“Vogliamo tutto: We want everything—all the wealth, all the power, and no work.”

Torino, 1969. Fiat’s giant Mirafiori plant is a magnet for thousands of young southern workers, who go north to escape oppression, poverty and underdevelopment and find only exploitation and abuse on the assembly lines.

Nanni Balestrini draws on interviews, flyers and the movement’s bulletins to document workers’ experiences on the factory floor, in the meetings and demonstrations and, finally, at the barricades, creating a poetic remix of a novel, a searching documentary and a call to arms for a just society.

Translated from the Italian by Matt Holden. Designed by Warren Taylor.

Continuous Moment: Trans-Company
Damiano Bertoli
Published by The Narrows, Melbourne, 2015, 4 page concertina fold (b/w ill.), 10.5 × 29.7 cm (folded) 42 × 29.7 cm (unfolded), English
Price: €2

Produced on the occasion of Continuous Moment: Trans-Company, The Other Side, 9 February–17 April, 2015.

Continuous Moment: Trans-Company is part of Bertoli’s ongoing research and investigation into Picasso’s play Le Désir Attrapé par la Queue (Desire Captured by the Tail). Referring to both a 1944 reading of the play and a staging of the play in 1967 by Jean Jacques Lebel, Bertoli’s work addresses ideas of repetition, reprise and continuity. Like Picasso’s text and Lebel’s production, Bertoli draws on a vast network of references and influences. In this light,Continuous Moment: Trans-Company can be understood as an assemblage of existing voices through which Bertoli is part of the aggregating authorship around ‘Le Désir’.
